Jim Elliot wrote these words during his years at Wheaton College, a time when he prayed for God’s direction for his future as a missionary. Where would God lead this unusually dedicated and versatile man Born into a godly family in Portland, Oregon, Jim was a dynamic speaker who had memorized literally hundreds of hymns, a Greek scholar, and a college wrestling champion. Years later that request would be fulfilled, on a beach of the Curaray River deep in Auca Indian territory in eastern Ecuador.
